Weight Pull Harness-1″ Webbing

The weight pull version of the freight harness features double padding  (super plush or polar fleece over neoprene) for extra cushion during competition.   This traditional singletree harness is used for weight pulling, sledding, and heavy-duty hauling.  Frequently, it is used in wheel position (near the sled) because  the low-draft hitch is more level with the gangline.  This harness comes with a hardwood spreader kit.  The spreader bar should be slightly wider than the rear of the dog.   You may cut the bar if needed.  The spreader bar should be touching the rear of the dog when the harness is in a relaxed position.  Put the screws provided through the fabric and into the pre-drilled spreader bar.  The height of the hitch is adjustable, so the load is always held in place for maximum pull.  The hitch ring uses limited side slip to compensate for off-center loads, and the backstraps feature the same “sliding X” as the X-back harness.

CUSTOM SIZES and HARNESSES WITH OPTIONS ARE NOT RETURNABLE!!!  MAKE SURE YOUR MEASUREMENTS ARE CORRECT!!!

This harness requires a neck and rear measurement.  Instructions for measuring are found under information-measuring dogs.

Padding Types

Padding-Harness padding does two things; it keeps the webbing from cutting or chafing your dog, and it provides some cushion to prevent bruising.

TYPE N: Super Plush-synthetic pile is furry nap with woven backing, good cushion, wears well, doesn’t pill, machine washable.
TYPE F: Polar Fleece – PolarTec 300®, quick-drying Dacron polyester synthetic, good insulator because it holds a lot of air, resists water absorption, Machine washable.
